Loon Preservation has been practiced on Douglas Lake since 1992. The Douglas Lake Improvement Association participates with the Michigan Loonwatch by providing safe nesting islands for the loons and tracking their progress.
We began using one camera onboard a platform to monitor activity in 2017. It was beneficial so we now have 4 nesting islands (platforms) with cameras.
